Walt Whitman Initiative

I recently did some more pro-bono work for the Walt Whitman Initiative, a local non-profit organization I'm on the board of that fosters a sense of community among those interested in the life, work, and influence of Walt Whitman. I illustrated and designed a poster for the organization’s upcoming "Song of Myself" marathon reading of Whitman's epic poem. The illustration includes multiple references to Whitman’s poetry, including the poet’s identification with grass, his love of loafing, and the beautiful concluding lines of his epic poem “Song of Myself.”

“I bequeath myself to the dirt to grow from the grass I love,
If you want me again look for me under your boot-soles.”
