We designed the covers and interiors for the companion volumes The Continuum Encyclopedia of Native Art and The Continuum Encyclopedia of Animal Symbolism in Art, both published by The Continuum Publishing Company. Written by art historian Hope Werness, the two books are over 350 and 450 pages respectively, and include color inserts, along with hundreds of black and white illustrations which we scanned, color-corrected, and placed in a tight page layout.
The two comprehensive reference texts cover the often misunderstood area of aesthetics, anthropology and mythology within tribal or indigenous non-Western art. Including hundreds of entries and illustrations, it includes art from the cultures and tribal kingdoms of: Nigeria, Australia, Indonesia and Polynesia, Western and Central Africa, Canada and Alaska, and the continental United States.
