Our client The Continuum Publishing Company approached us to design this coffee-table art book, The Religious Art of Andy Warhol. The remarkable book, written by art historian and curator Jane Dillenberger, documents Warhol’s surprising lifelong interest in the Catholic Church as well as his exploration of existential spiritual topics. Included in the book are many of the paintings, drawings, and prints Warhol did based on da Vinci’s Last Supper, as well as examples of his more abstract shadow and skull paintings. We worked closely over the course of several months with both the editors and author on this complex and labor-intensive project. The four-color book includes over 85 images throughout its 130 pages.
